March 2010 General Meeting

March 25th, 2010 by FIB'ers

We began our 27th year by recognizing some of our members, both juniors and adults, for their service to our club and their success on the water. Big fish awards were given to 3 juniors and 8 adults for landing the P3180001biggest fish in a species category. Congradulations went out to Jim Kiech as angler of the year for 2009 for catching a 27 lb. yellowtail on an Amigo charter. We also honored three individuals for their contrbutions to the FIBers in 2009. Congradulations to Fred Madsen, Jonathan Perkins, and Jim Kiech. Thankyou gentlemen!
After the awards, we enjoyed a presentation by Jenny Armstrong who represents The Sportfishing Conservancy, which is an advocacy group for Southern California sportfishermen.  Her guest was Lieutenant Dave McNair, a Department of Fish and Game warden, and his work dog Reno, who gave a very colorful report on the challenges facing our wardens to protect our resources.
We welcomed Rick Chalmers as the newest member of our coordinating committee. Rick has been a loyal member of the FIBers for close to 20 years, and we are glad to have him join us.
