Newport Tournament #2 Report
On Saturday, July 25th, we held our second Newport Bay
bass tournament, a 2-man team event. Five teams came out
to fish in near perfect conditions: warm water, a good tidal
flow, and morning cloud cover that lasted until 10 AM.
Lots of fish were caught by all teams, ‘tho none over that
elusive three pound mark. Nevertheless, we all had a great
time. Congratulations again to the team of Tom and Val
Handzus, who took first place and continue to be the
reigning king and queen of the bay. Second place went to
Roy Fukushima and Steve Hanano. Steve landed a 2.37 lb.
spottie that is big fish in that category thus far this year.
Third place honors went to Dave Shill and Ron Withers.
The FIB’ers thank member Jerry Bent, whose role as a DFG
volunteer makes it possible for us to use the DFG dock
facility for our weigh-ins, and thank you to all the teams
who came out for another great day on the bay.
