The Good Old Days
Everybody has heard about the good old days. Well the FIB’ers just fished what will be the good old days. Everyone was there on time, good job! We boarded the Voyager at 9:00 PM. At the bait receiver we pick up a good load of 3-5 sardines. Captain Todd had the timing down just right, so we arrived at the fishing grounds just in time to start fishing, about 4:30 am. It was a smooth ride out. We started with Flat Falls and dropper loops. No bites until gray light, the first bite was on a fly lined bait. About the same time a dropper loop sardine was picked up. The first two fish were cookie cutters, about 75lbs. Most FIB’ers switched to the fly line baits. We did not start up the engines until it was time to go back to port. Many, many personal best were caught.. Two new club records were set. Frank Ciccarelli with a Bluefin tuna of 90lbs and Floyd Spangler with a Yellowfin tuna of 94lbs, also the jackpot winner. According to the long-time FIB’ers, this the best quality trip so far. Casey, with her new Captains license, was great in the galley and on deck. Jason on deck did a great job. Captain Todd again was on fish and on the deck as the best cheer leader possible. Smooth ride home with well deserved naps for most. Never know when this going happen, so you need to be there.
