Mission Bay Tournament April 21, 2012

Tuesday, April 24th, 2012

To say that we were all very excited to fish the first FIB’er Bass Tournament of the year would be an understatement; we were all chomping at the bit to get out there and fish for Spotted Bay Bass in Mission Bay. 7 teams- consisting of 16 adults and 4 juniors – assembled in the gray light at Dana Landing to kick off our first event of the year. The goal is simple, use artificial lures to catch your three heaviest Spotted Bay Bass inside Mission Bay, and weigh them in alive back at the landing. Although the weather was very nice leading up to the event, most teams reported very slow fishing throughout the bay, but in the end, all but one team had fish to weigh in!
Results:
First place – Team Basstache: Andrew & Art Gomez, and Jeremy Glenn.
3-fish limit = 5.19 #’s
Big Fish = 2.06 #’s

Second Place – Team Bass Hounds: Maynard Poynter, Sergio Fainstein, & Ron Hobbs

After the weigh in, and pulling our boats out of the water, we all gathered in the parking lot for a tail gate picnic. The fellowship was sweet and it helped nourish us for the 2-hour drive back home. Photobucket
We thank the Lord for another wonderful day of fun, fishing and fellowship in His glorious name!
Finally, congratulations to our winners, and we look forward to seeing all of you at our next tournament, the “Calico Coastal” on June 23rd in Long Beach!

Ben Florentino Does Not Disappoint!

Tuesday, April 24th, 2012

Thursday night, April 19 was a great night for the FIB’ers. We had an above average amount of members present as Fred Madsen led us in “Amazing Grace” on his harmonica and Rick Chalmers gave a heart-felt devotional. Dorian Quimby received his Big Fish Awards:

Ben Florentino gave a very informative seminar which Steve Bermudes captured for us – Thanks Steve!!

At the end of the meeting, Ben Florentino generously raffled off two Plano boxes stuffed with Big Hammer swimbaits and War leadheads, and a 1/2 day fishing charter for two with him on his 22 foot Skeeter. WOW! Thank you Benny! Please think of Ben Florentino the next time you are considering hiring saltwater fishing guide. You will not regret it!
